R.I.P.

As some of you know, I have not been posting much this summer. I was thinking people my age should not be so busy but it seems the older I get, the more there is to take care of.

Although I am not writing, I have continued to read posts. One of my friends lost her 17 year old pet cat, Sassy. R.I.P. Sassy post is here. I love reading about her pet parties.

Although I don't remember parties for his cats, my grandson also loves his pets. He lost a pet once when he was very little. Through his sobs he repeatedly asked his mama for a rip sign. It took a while for her to understand his request for a rip sign was a grave marker with R.I.P. on it.

My son's daughters got new bunnies - Oreo and Midnight. Aren't they cute? Did you know that you can freeze two litre bottles of water and put in their cages to help cool them during this hot summer weather?

We are still in a drought in the Arkansas River Valley. Not enough rainfall to make hay for the livestock. It will be a very expensive winter for our farmers without any hay to cut.

  1. The weather is crazy all over. Up here everything is rotting from too much rain - I'd gladly send you some if I could!
It's nice to see you back!

  3. Love those little rabbits! I looked at some in Atwoods store the other day; only looking. We've had two more unwanted dogs left here!

It is sad to give up a long-time pet for sure.

  6. Thank you, you are such a sweet lady. I miss sassy so much but I'm so happy she was around for as long as she was I miss her dearly. Loosing a pet is so hard :(

  7. Sad but darling story about the rip sign...I love the new rabbits! What a wonderful kind of pet for them to have! Glad to hear about the frozen bottles of water to keep them cool. I know what you mean about the drought though. It's rough on everyone but especially the farmers. Of course, it hits us too in the grocery stores as well. I spend more on groceries than I used to for just the two of us, just because I am buying all organic veggies and fruits, meats and dairy and eggs. That's tough!

I know your friend will miss her kitty. I was sorry to hear about her loss. I'm glad you are posting some...it's hard not to, even when you are overwhelmed with living life, and say you aren't going to take out the time to do it. There is always so much we want to share, no matter what. So, it was good to see these two posts. And thank you for your visits during this break, to my blog, as well!

  10. Sorry to read about your friends pet.... so sad. These four legged friends sure do become like a member of our families, don't they?

Cute bunnies! Nice to know that your grands have figured out a way to help them stay cool.
We've all had a blistering summer.
    Wishing for cooler weather.

    Smiles :)

  11. I did not know that about freezing bottles of water but should have figured it out....we are still in drought here...we have had less than half the normal amount of precipitation than is normal at this time of year. Corn is just drying up in the fields...everything is just brown, brown brown...BUT we have a good chance of rain today.
